James Bond eat your heart out! These delicious concoctions courtesy of Corner Lounge on Commercial St. are colourful as they are vibrant. Mr. Bond however brings up a very compelling debate. When it comes to cocktails what’s better: shaken or stirred?
Shaking a drink adds that unmistakable element of refreshment as the melting ice chills it down significantly. In addition, studies have shown that shaken gin martinis contain more antioxidants than stirred ones (not that health is a main concern to anyone drinking hard bar!).
On the flip side, bartenders and alcoholics alike frown upon shaking a cocktail with ice because it dilutes it…which essentially calls James Bond out as being a featherweight. Others in the stirred camp also claim that shaking spirits like gin “bruises” it (which refers to to the slightly bitter it produces).
Take part in the debate! Do you prefer “shaken” or “stirred” martinis? Post your answers below!

Hm, I would rather stir it. Well, not long ago I had an elderflower martini (I think I blogged about it as well) and only stirred it with the straw while drinking it.
An elderflower martini sounds amazing! One of Meaghan’s favourite ciders is made with elderflower. Such a wonderful and delicate flavour.
